MetaWatch Strata smartwatch connects to iPhone and Android phones via Bluetooth

Because we gadget lovers require something more than a watch on our wrist, developers Bill Geiser and David Rosales have listed out a project for an open source development kits for their Bluetooth connected watch – the MetaWatch Strata smartwatch on Kickstarter. The Strata like the Pebble, we saw come real post Kickstarter fundraising, is a waterproof, Bluetooth connected watch which connects to the iPhone or any Android phone. The Starta on connecting wirelessly allows you to make and receive calls, send and receive text messages and mails and use Facebook and Twitter etc.

Billed as the first iOS 6-compatible smartwatch the Strata has a anti glare 1.35-inch 96 x 96 pixel mirror polymer network display and comes with a lost phone alarm LED front light and a micro USB slot. The smartphone will also feature wireless music control and vibrating alarm inside a 42 x 42 x 14 mm body. The watch is for all fitness freaks too, as it comes bundled with running and cycling apps which keeps you update with your work out. The watch’s 120mAh battery offers the Starta some five and seven days of backup.

MetaWatch has placed limits on the amount of people who can pledge to back the project on Kickstarter to avoid over subscription. For all interested in the Starta, the smartwatch is expected to ship sometime in November for an estimated price of $159 in blue/black, tangerine/black, green/black and camouflage/black styles to choose from.
