Very few design houses have actually managed to gain repute in creating engaging and dramatic sculptures, which have really appealed with the masses and The Glue Society is one such name. Glue Society’s Melting Ice Cream Truck sculpture that won them $5,000 in prize money at the annual Sculpture by the Sea Exhibition is an installation that’s taken The Glue Society to a new high. At first however, to my critic eye the Melting Ice Cream Truck seemed waste, but then I look at my giant spoon, I thought, why not! Is anyone of you coming?
We all have seen a range of transformer figurines flocking out of China in the past, so if there had to be an abode for transformers, anywhere outside the movie, then it had to be in China. And now like the Angry Birds theme park that we read about just recently, here is news that comes from Jiaxing, located in China’s Zhejiang province, where a transformers park has been constructed, which is all packed with giant replicas of everyone’s favorites including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron (live action figures).
There are always two extremes of anything and if you are able enough to touch anyone of them, then you are a known personality. Marc Quinn has always taken interest in sculpting such personalities. He has already earned fame with his earlier sculptures in which he depicted a man who changed his face to look like a cat, and Thomas Beattie, the “man” (he was born female) who became pregnant, and now he is up again with Pamela Anderson.
You can call this work Connected; of course, it goes with what had been done with Cat 5 patch cables. Like a poem, you can have your own interpretation of any art and it applies to the present piece of job too. Artist Kasey McMahon’s are intentions are might not be particular, but our appreciation is definite. Now, you can take a close look and spent some time in giving your comments.
Everyone has his own way to express what he/she wants to. Take an example of this ‘SciFi Artificial Womb Sculpture’. Before I could get to the point what really this thing is, I had to go through an interesting story of a survey ship, the CASPIN IV that encountered a faint signal beacon while charting systems at the edge of the explored Galaxy in 2871. The only remain found was this thing. Not only this, but the investigation showed that it’s a female baby, probably human, and had some extra 25,000 strands of DNA, which have still not been identified....
It would have been injustice to these awesome pieces of arts if I had not given them their due place on my blog. Not only esthetically, but environmentally too these recycled PCB sculptures are adorable. Computer geek Steven Rodrig instead of throwing them in landfills chose to turn them into beautiful sculptures. Check out the sea turtle, dragonfly, and shoes made out of old PCBs.
Revenge of the fallen wasn’t that much disappointment, but could not get ahead of the first impression those awesome transforming characters had who won our heart in the first movie. Anyway, I found this real life size transformer on web, but I could find out the details like who, when, why, how etc. Whoever has created it must be a dead fan of transformers.
