Xiaomi has added a new smartphone to the Redmi K30 series which is powered by the upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G processor. Known as the Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition (a.k.a. Extreme Edition and Speed Edition), the phone was unveiled in China in an online event on May 11. This is the first phone powered by the 5G capable SoC in the mid-range phone market.

As per Chinese retailer JD.com, the phone has a dual punch-hole camera screen. The 768G SoC is an improvement over the Snapdragon 765 and 765G variants. It has a clock speed of 2.8GHz as compared to 2.4GHz in the 765 processor. Also, the Adreno 620 GPU has improved performance by around 15 percent.

The future-proof network capability via the integrated 5G modem makes Redmi K30 Racing Edition work with dual-mode SA/NSA 5G. It will have a 6.67-inch FHD+ display (1080 x 2400 pixels) at 20:9 aspect ratio with the impressive 120Hz refresh rate. For hardware connectivity, there’s 3.5mm headphone jack and USB-C port along with NFC, IR Blaster, and Bluetooth.
